Land-Ocean Interactions in the Coastal Zone (LOICZ)

Land-Ocean Interactions in the Coastal Zone (LOICZ) is a core project of the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme (IGBP) and the International Human Dimensions Programme on Global Environmental Change (IHDP). LOICZ aims to provide science that contributes towards understanding the Earth system in order to inform, educate and contribute to the sustainability of the world’s coastal zone and to inform the scientific community, policymakers, managers and stakeholders on the relevance of global environmental change in the coastal zone.

Fulfilling the positions of Deputy Executive Director and Office Manager our staff were involved in management and administration of the LOICZ International Project on a day-to-day basis promoting, representing, and co-ordinating LOICZ scientific research with a special focus on Human Dimensions and science dissemination. As well as helping to set the future project direction we provided project advocacy, promotion and publicity. An important activity was to develop and maintain links with other relevant international and national agencies and initiatives, and ensuring effective co-ordination with other IGBP and Earth System Science Programme Elements (ESSP and Integrated Projects).
